Pictured is Amanda winning a hanger full of ribbons from showing my mare Cleo (Zippos Dream Maker) So see!? Everyone who ran down Amanda and her toughing out that incredibly weird English judge at the state show, well all I can say is LOOKOUT for Miss THANG and Miss Cleo next year!!
Anyhow the upcoming 4H year, Amanda will be using Cleo as her show horse...we are hoping they make it to Oklahoma regionals...and why not? They are TALENTED together!

I am so glad to help such a good kid out with such an awesome horse like Cleo...Amanda has a really nice Paint mare but she has issues at all the wrong moments. Cleo isnt like that...
Oh and I want to hear about what happened at Paint world that had everyone in sucha uproar!! Dirt, gimme dirt!!!!!

Your mare is so cute. I have two, wait, three horses that look so much like her. Had two babies this year, both sorrel and whites with high white socks and a few belly spots. One has two brown eyes, the other an apron face. By Joses Real Deal and out of an All Time Fancy mare and a Norfleet mare.
I am starting my two weeks of lessons for my neices before they head to Fair. My oldest niece, 16, is now riding her new horse I bought for her to run flags on and start working on barrel racing, gaming, etc. She's going to take her to Fair too, so we are starting to day to do patterns, and teach her trail and showmanship. Not that I think we can do that in two weeks, but she should get by. A picture of her and of your mare would be so alike it would be hard to tell them apart. The girls are currently out gathering show clothes out of the trailer for us to try on and look at to see what new stuff they need. Probably going to have to make two showmanship outfits in two weeks too!
Isn't it fun to have someone show a horse you worked hard on? It's so nice to see them out there doing good for someone else. I couldn't be prouder of my little reiner that took his girl from not even being able to lope to jumping 3 foot courses. He's now got a new kid to train. Another I had took a kid to four Canadian National championships. Woot.
I am slowly trying to get out of Teresa what happened at Worlds. I heard the Western Riding was horrendous, especially the senior. The person ALL the trainers thought should win, Scott Suggs, got like 4th. Teresa said it was a go that raised goosebumps on her arms. She feels that the people knowledgeable enough to judge are all showing in the class, so what do you do? Most of the judges in Western Riding had NEVER BEEN DOWN THE LINE!!! Now I am all for being a judge and not being able to do it yourself...the person that taught me to ride huntseat couldn't ride a lick, but she could TEACH. You can know what you are doing, but at the same time, I can see her point. From what I understand, entries are falling off at the same rate as the QH's did a few years ago. The JR/SR horse entries are the worst. AM and Youth are ok still, but not at high levels like they were. Stuff goes in cycles, but people are panicking and wanting to go back to FUN shows. The smaller shows can't make it money wise and the normal person can't afford to go to a ten judge show. Everyone thinks they might bail for Pinto. More politics stuff, of course, that's always there. Stalls were WAY down but entries were flat, about the same as last year. All in all it doesn't sound like anything to have an uproar about. I will see what else I can find out.
Yes Cleo is pretty much the standard overo color. She is by Paint Me Zippo who just died a little while ago...her dam is older than PMZ so I expect to hear soon she died as well...she does have her own personality and style; she will never meet current western pleasure standards but she is consistent and classy.
I cannot wait for this hell season to be over; first off it is so hot, you sweat in the shower...then it rains at the drop of a hat so airing out anything is a good reason to hover over it so it doesnt get wetter...and the hurricanes are buzzing around just waiting to rumble in and make it worse...
Next year Amanda will really crank...she has two years left in 4H and she deserves to be all she can be. She is a terrific kid and her mom and little brother are awesome too...very supportive for a single parent. She is also lucky to have a deeply interested and involved aunt Priscilla to help with expenses. Showing is tough on people without the means but Amanda's mom wants her to have these experiences; she is a smart woman...it will make AManda an even better person! Your nieces will have the time of their lives showing!!! And if you work every day for the next two weeks, she will at least have a clear idea of what the classes are like...I fell so bad for these kids who stumble in and just watch the judge as she/he does their walkaround...
I love the practice; it is just about the best part of showing!
