What a terrific weekend this has been!! Okay so the hurricane wanna-be Fay ended up keeping us house bound all week and while the remnants are still tossing rain down, I just couldnt stand it anymore. It has been two weeks since I rode since the one day I tried to ride Cleo I discovered she had lost a shoe and then the hurricane moved in...anyhow it had been a while...
So I rode all weekend; Crush was amazing...he jogged so nicely and so steadily and like I have mentioned before, he is a better loper than he is a jogger! We are really getting good at lope departures; he barely trots a step or two before he is moving just like I want!
And Cleo...Wow! She and I just rode the crap out of the back arena! She did the water box for me, flying lead changes like an old pro, and pivoted/side-passed...the works! I cannot wait till October and my first Paint show in MONTHS to get back into it!
Wish I had some 'fresh' pictures but Caitlin spent the weekend in Clearwater...so this old one will hafta do...

Welcome Back!
My life has taken some complete turn arounds in the last few weeks. I got sick, again...this is an ongoing thing that the doctors are really confused about, all 12-13 of them. Sigh. Thank Gawd for good insurance. Since it seems to be related to stress and lack of sleep, I am currently banned from Horseshows!!! ARGH!

After taking my neice to the state fair, where she did ok for her first trip, I also decided to spend more time with her and her new horse. She is 13 and is more 'show' than the older one. With my mom gone, she needs all the support she can get and I want to get her to some shows next year, followed by the possibility of showing Novice Youth the year after. Since she is 3 hours away, that is going to take up a bunch of my time.

Soooo, my current show mare is for sale. I hate to sell her. She is the sweetest horse I have ever owned and I bred her here, so I've had her for her whole life. However, she can't just stay at the trainer's forever. If I get to feeling better, we will put me on some of the babies in the Non-Pro futurities and I can ride them in the Ammy pleasure classes. Know anyone looking for a well bred, sweetest hunter horse in the world? She drives, does lead changes, trail, showmanship, patterns...does NOT do WP :-) Not in a hurry to sell her, and good thing, what with this market.

I do have my older niece's new horse here to ride for her for the winter and get some pattern work done. Tied her around yesterday and got the clearest WTF? look I have ever gotten from a horse. Obviously, she was broken with the 'get on and ride' theory and never had the ground work done. Starting there.

I am figuring the horseshow ban is for major shows only and plan to take this mare to a few local shows and get her seasoned. I think it will be fun to get back to my roots for awhile.

I am sad and excited all at the same time. Gonna be very jealous of you going to a show, but excited to hear how you do!

OMG! How depressing...well that is what they told me when my back went south but since I have started working out at the gym, it hasnt figured in AND I am planning on starting barrels and poles on my Foxy mare in the next year or so...
Nope dont know anyone looking for a good horse...they are out there too...One of Caitlin's students just got a FREE horse (registered Paint gelding) that is trained to the nth but the people had a bad turn of luck and he ended up at a rescue, complete with papers...where Melanie saw him (she volunteers there) and the rest is history. Caitlin went out last night and evaluated him and they are good to start moving him to her barn!
I have to fly out to Denver the 11th thru 14th of September to judge an art show so I have to miss the only Paint/Pinto show around here...Half thinking of going to South Carolina for a show in October but really hate the idea of a 14 hour drive for a two day two judge show...eeehhh...Might have to take my showing on the road next year as there is a rumor this state's club could fold...My luck.
